Venezuela is one of the most biodiverse countries in the world, with an estimated 10% of the world’s species residing within its borders. It is home to approximately 40,000 species of plants, 1,400 species of birds, 300 species of mammals, 200 species of reptiles and 250 species of amphibians.

Venezuela has a total of 43 national natural parks, which cover approximately 21% of the country’s territory, covering a total area of more than 200,000 km². Some of the best known national parks include Canaima National Park, home to Angel Falls, and Mochima National Park, which is known for its beautiful beaches and coral reefs. And if that wasn’t enough, it is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, with a large number of endemic and migratory bird species. The country has more than 1,400 species of birds, including the Venezuelan Turpial, the Scarlet Ibis and the Harpy Eagle.
